Be Search Engine Friendly

Search engines like three things best:

1. Content - with lots of keyword phrases appropriate for the page, written for your audience
2. Updates - pages should be updated frequently
3. Links - links to your site from other, good, highly ranked sites (with good anchor text if possible)

It also helps to use your keyword phrases in certain places of your site including the page file names, page titles, image alts, link text, etc.

Each page of your site should have different keyword phrases depending on its content.

Also, keep in mind that it takes time to be ranked for your keyword phrases. If your site hasn't be live for that long, it will take some time. You may be in Google, for instance, just not ranked yet for the keywords you want to be ranked well for. To see how many of your pages are indexed in Google type site:yorudomain.com in the search field.

Note: Dynamic sites (database generated sites - usually with urls ending in php, asp, cfm, etc) are not all search engine friendly. Some CMS and shopping cart programs have an option that you can turn on for 'search engine friendly' pages. If your cart has that feature, turn it on. You may or may not have access to changing many of the things you need to change to increase your search engine ranking for your targeted keywords. If you have the option of adding plain html pages, do so for a few special products or articles with lots of good searchable text.
