Webmail
If you aren't using Webmail (web-based email), you're missing out! It's so easy to use and fun too!

You can use webmail to retrieve and send email from your domain (you@yourdomain.com) from any internet connected computer!

How to use Webmail
You can use webmail to retrieve and send email from your domain (you@yourdomain.com) from any internet connected computer!

Just go to http://yourdomain.com/up

enter your email user name and password

You'll be in your inbox so you'll see any new mail there (there may be more than one page of emails). You can click Compose to send a new email or click on the subject of an email to read/respond to it.

Tip: cc your own address so when you get your computer back you'll download your sent mail (to your inbox) as well as all new mail. And don't delete mail from here that you want to download to your pc later.

Just go to http://www.yourdomain.com/up (you'll see the following)

webmail

Enter the username and password you setup for your mail email address in your Mail Manager. Your user name is whatever is before the @ sign. Each email address need to be checked separately. (The first time you use webmail you'll be asked to set up your webmail preferences. You can scroll down and click SAVE until you're more familiar with webmail.)

Here is a shot of what webmail looks like when you log in - you'll see your inbox and any email that has arrived for you:

  • Check email from any computer with an internet connection.
  • If you leave the email on the server after viewing it you can still download the messages to your home/work computer if you want to.
  • Settings and Preferences allow background changes, theme changes, calendar options and message filtering options
  • Spell check included with composition of emails.
  • Search and Advanced Searching capabilities can be carried out on numerous fields and criteria.
  • Calendar functionality that will send messages to specified email addresses as a reminder of an event.
  • Session timed logouts have been instituted for additional security; the time out duration is configured in the User Preferences screen.
  • Importing of address books from other mail programs.
  • Several "you've got mail" types of audio alert messages that you can choose from. There's even a Monty Python version and one from Bugs Bunny!
  • Pre-installed spam filters that you can to (these filters only affect webmail)

To use your webmail point your browser to http://www.yourdomain.com/up and use the user name and password you set up for each email account to retrieve email. If you are unsure of your email passwords, login to your control panel, click Mail Manager, and change the password.

Deleting Email
Set your email program to Delete mail from server either immediately upon download or after a few days. Doing so will keep your email accounts clean and working smoothly. Storing an excess of 20MB on the server in one account can cause difficulties with your mail flow.

To see how to send and receive email from a program such as Outlook or Eudora, click Email Software Settings
